Who are the eigos?
The eigos are child friendly characters who incorporate the sounds of English in their names. They are designed to help children understand more easily the rules and irregularities of English language phonics.
An example of later stage phonic playing cards. Here we show different letters that make up the lower case f sound.
What is phonics?
Phonics is a teaching method that help children learn to read and write more easily through the recognition and understanding of the sounds of letters or blends of letter combinations of the alphabet.
For spelling, phonics helps by enabling children to add letter sounds or blends of letters sounds together to spell longer words.
For reading, phonics helps by enabling children to break down longer words into shorter sounds that can be added back together to understand the reading.
How can the eigos help?
Speeding up the subliminal understanding of English phonics through play.
The basic sounds of phonics start with the learning of the
upper case (ABCD etc) and lower case (abcd etc) letter sounds of the alphabet.
Our first level eigos are the world`s only characters to include all these sounds in their names.
First level eigos are split into single eigos and family group eigos.
Family group eigos help make it as simple as possible for children to understand the concept that each alphabetical letter has two sounds.
Through songs and soft toys, children can touch, play, sing and dance with the eigos, all the time building up their recogntion of the essential first elements of their phonics education.
The eigos help children develop their phonic skills faster, simpler, with more fun and from an earlier age.
The rules of the eigo series are simple and continuous as the level of learning becomes more advanced.
Their names clearly distinguish between the upper and
lower case sounds of English through a simple coded system which includes-
CAPITAL letters in blue for upper case alphabet sounds.
small letters in red for lower case alphabet sounds.
The use of characters with names makes it easier for young children to subliminally absorb phonic patterns and rules which help form the building blocks to reading and writing, hence speeding up the understanding of
English phonics through play.

Understanding the differences between upper and lower case sounds and shapes of the English language
Family eigos are the world`s only characters to be named after the upper and lower case alphabetical sounds of English.
Their names are colored blue for upper case sounds and red for lower case sounds. This theme continues throughout the eigo range.
Single eigos. The lower case alphabetical sounds of English are so important that they deserve their own set of characters.
Soft toys and other products within the single eigos brand can be arranged to practice word order and joined together to help practice sound composition.

Reading and spelling cards
All our eigo level characters are suitable for children to use in card games as a way of having fun whilst learning some principles of spelling and reading.
All our eigos from level 2 upwards can be clicked upon to go into more depth of spelling or reading patterns.
Here is a more detailed look at how one of our characters can be used in multi media format.
Hello my name is AEIOU
In English in a pattern like
a-e, e-e, i-e, o-e and u-e,
the e letter at the end of the pattern often turns the sound of
the first vowel into a long vowel sound.
I can change my body screen to show an example of all five vowel patterns. The circle color in my head turns yellow to indicate which vowel sound I am showing.
