Level 2. Sound compostion.
Consonant and vowel combinations. `Convocombo`eigos.
Having learnt the differences between upper and lower case sounds of English through the color and writing codes of the eigo teaching system,
children, when ready, can be introduced to level 2 `Convocombo`eigos.
Convocombo eigos.
A joining of consonant and each of the five vowels give these eigos their names.
This eigos name is
babebibobu.
This eigos name is
dadedidodu.
Most convo eigos are easy for the children to understand.
A combination of two lower case letter sounds represented
in the eigo teaching system by lower case red letters in their names.
However
There are two notable consonant vowel combinations within the alphabet that can confuse children easily. The letter combinations
of ce, ci and ge gi.
It is generally accepted that words with
a soft c (s sound)
or soft g (j sound) originate from latin. Via the Roman invasion of England and then the Norman conquest where many french words were integrated into the English language.
With few exceptions to the rule (soccer and cello), almost all ce, ci letter combinations are pronounced as soft c (s). The yellow is used as a warning to children - be careful!
The vast majority of ge, gi letter combinations are pronounced as a soft g (j). However unlike soft c there are more than a few examples where this isn`t the case
therefore ge and gi need to be shown with both the hard g (g)
and soft g (j) sounds. Yellow is used a warning color for children to be aware of the above.
The axexixoxux character is an exception in the naming of the convo eigos.
There are very few simple words in everyday use which start with an x. The x convo eigo is therefore named axexixoxux
as this letter combination is considered more useful for study purposes.
